FAQS ABOUT COACHING WHAT IS A LIFE COACH?
A life coach is a person who partners with you to ensure
your success. They act as your personal cheerleader in helping you to
set goals and create a plan to achieve them. WHAT CAN A COACH DO FOR ME? A life coach aids you in identifying your strengths and opportunities for greater personal and professional development. A life coach also works with you in developing a system of accountability to realize your intended objectives. Unlike a therapist or counselor, a life coach is very forward-thinking. Life coaches bridge the gap between where you are right now and where you want to be in the future. Life coaches have a mission to help ordinary people fulfill extraordinary dreams. WHO USES COACHES? Coaching is best suited for well-adjusted, emotionally stable people who are determined to make a positive, lasting change in their lives. People from all types of backgrounds can benefit from the support of a coach. Executives, business owners, housewives, students, factory workers, entrepreneurs and career transitioners are just some of the groups who have turned to a coach for support. WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A COACHING RELATIONSHIP? The primary responsibility of a coach is to motivate you to move from inaction to action by holding you accountable to your commitments. Coaches do this by acting as a sounding board for ideation. The coach will provide you with a safe environment, free from judgment and bias, in which you can evaluate your goals and enhance your decision-making abilities. Typically coaches meet with their clients weekly for 30 minutes to an hour, either by phone or in person. Since the results of a coaching relationship is primarily dependent upon your own free will, it really is up to you as to how each session will unfold; however, it is the coach's job to facilitate that process so you can gain more clarity, focus and direction. Most likely your coach will assign you homework at the end of every session. Homework is designed to help you to move closer to your defined goals. HOW DO I PICK A COACH? Choosing a coach is a very personal decision. You will most likely share many intimate details about your life with your coach. For this reason it is important that you are comfortable with your choice. Think about what you want most from a coach. Visit LCSN's Directory of Coaches and check out the many qualified coaches available to meet those needs. Most coaches offer a free or low-cost introductory coaching session. You should take advantage of several of these introductory sessions before you come to a decision. Take the opportunity to ask the coach questions about his/her experience, background and coaching process as you feel is necessary. Choosing a coach is all about making an informed decision. Once you have chosen a coach, you should continue to evaluate whether or not your coaching sessions are effective. If they are not, then you should discuss this over with your coach. Should the issue not be resolved, feel free to break away from the coaching relationship and try a new coach.
So you're ready to get a coach? If you are ready to embark on a journey to greater fulfillment in every area of your life, then it is time to take the next step by partnering with a qualified coach. Search our Directory of Coaches for a coach who can meet your needs.
